What do avocado toast, seltzer water cocktails, and acai bowls have in common? Food trends in the past decade. What is considered tasty and hip is marketed through new menu items, commercials, blogs, and word of mouth. Colorful images of food that meet the eye are met with a huge assumption: that the viewer can safely consume and enjoy the food. Across the lifespan and cultures, food is essential to life. In a world where 590 million people live with dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), what intentionally promotes dignity, safety, inclusion and diversity through the lens of daily life? The answer is Dysphoodie. A company connecting the dysphagia community to the food industry.Unlike the above trends, modified foods are a staple in the dysphagia community to promote adequate nutrition and hydration safely. Dysphoodie pairs the love of food with the dysphagia community through practical innovation. It’s not a trend, it’s a way of life.

The MISSION is to bridge the gap of swallowing disorders and the love of food through awareness and an opportunity for culinary variety and social dining. The VISION is to establish Dysphoodie as the origin and catalyst for creating safe spaces for dining access and inclusion while making dysphagia a household name.

Dysphoodie is based upon four elements (PACT):

  • PRESENTATION of modified food that supports dignity within the dining experience

  • ACCESS to various cuisine with menu options modified for people with dysphagia

  • COMMUNITY awareness of people with dysphagia to promote and create safe spaces for social dining despite swallowing disorders.

  • TASTE of modified foods that promote enjoyment and creativity

Dysphoodie is committed to inclusiveness and culinary excellence.
